An exhibit of original oil paintings and collages by the Kentucky Library & Museum Artist-in-Residence, Lynne Ferguson, was on display October 16 – January 8 in Helm 100. Included in the exhibit were new pieces from a series of works entitled Living in a Fishbowl. Ms. Ferguson’s work is held in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.

Open House at the Libraries’ Government & Law Information Unit
Government Info/Law Unit held its second Annual Open House on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 in Helm Library. The unit’s coordinator Rosemary Meszaros and her staff members gave presentations on newly discovered resources that used to be buried among the collections. Area School Children Take Field Trips to Kentucky Library and Museum
During the fall semester 600 area school children were taking field trips to the Kentucky Library and Museum. Children engaged in a variety of hands-on activities in conjunction with the exhibits and learn about life in pioneer and Victorian Kentucky.

Quilts on Display at Kentucky Library and Museum
Visitors to the Nature’s Bounty: Quilts and More exhibit participated in a paper piecing workshop, quilt show ‘n tell, and learned several techniques including foundation piecing, three dimensional flower and fold ‘n finish as you go.

WKU Librarian Is the Kentucky Academic Librarian of the Year!
Rosemary Meszaros, Coordinator of WKU Libraries’ Government Document and Law unit, has been selected by the Kentucky Library Association (KLA) the Academic Librarian of the Year! At a luncheon in Louisville on September 28, 2006, several WKU Librarians who attended KLA’s annual conference were there to congratulate Rosemary and share the joy with her.

Faraway Places Lecture on Chinese Folktales
On the evening of Thursday, September 21, Haiwang Yuan, author of The Magic Lotus Lantern and Other Tales from the Han Chinese, gave a presentation at Barnes & Noble on the topic of “Tales from the Han Chinese and What They Tell Us.” He also signed his books the audience purchased. Over seventy people from the community and WKU attended the lecture. Many of them were WKU students.
