“It’s very rewarding to the fine arts faculty and students to have an area like this here on campus. The beauty of it is having all the information in one place. In this world of technology, this kind of accessibility is appreciated,†said Mitzi Groom, Department Head, Music Department.
“We are excited about having a centralized location that meets the needs of so many WKU students, faculty, staff and the community. This area offers increased accessibility to these materials and ease of use by having private listening and viewing booths, as well as a group study area,†said Mike Binder, Dean of University Libraries.

Saturday: 9am – midnight

University Libraries Kickoff
On August 22 at the Kentucky Building, the WKU Libraries’ Annual Kickoff was held. It started in the 2nd floor of the Kentucky Room with remarks by Mike Binder, Dean of Libraries, about highlights of last year and some things to be looked forward to in 2007-08. A sumptuous buffet luncheon followed in the 1st floor Centennial Room. During the break, the attendees saw the “Recommended by Duncan Hines” exhibit in the gallery area.
In keeping with Provost Burch’s urging the WKU deans to reserve the afternoon of the college kickoff days for faculty development, the UL faculty remained in the Kentucky Building for an afternoon program in the 1st floor Western Room on the “Second Life” phenomenon with focus on library applications. Enid Wohlstein and Betsy Hughes of the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) were the guest speakers. Their program ran from 1 – 4 p.m. with Q & A from 4 – 5 p.m. Here’s a photo album of the events.
