Saturday, June 28th, 2008Participants in the June 23 - June 27 Culture Camp visited four continents in five days by experiencing culture with art, food, dance, games and music of Africa, Asia, Central America, and Europe. Activities included storytelling, weaving, drawing and the construction of totem poles.
Led by South Central Kentucky potter Davie Reneau, participants in the Kentucky Clay Camp learned techniques of hand building with clay pinch pots, coil and slab work.
Fine art was the theme of the summer camp held the week of June 9th. Kentucky Library & Museum Artist-in-Residence Lynne Ferguson and the summer campers built on their basic drawing, painting, and design skills and used several mediums including watercolor, acrylic paint, collage, and sculpture.
From June 2 through June 6, summer campers explored the history of Kentucky through music, food, dance, and much more.
