The driving alt-rock sound of Birdswim rocked Java City March 31st to the delight of those attending. Birdswim as they appeared yesterday is Nate Morguelan and Will Perkins both WKU students.

The Buchanans, poet Jimmie and guitarist Wes, from Glasgow, Kentucky performed their own original musical visions for the crowd at Java City today.

The neo-classical, baroque folks songs of Louisville’s Aby Laby Land held the audience spellbound today in the Java City cafe. Aby Laby Land has developed a unique neo-folk sound that utilizes instruments like the soprano ukulele, mandolin and middle-eastern drums to create a sound that is melodic and mystical at the same time.

Nashville singer-songwriter Donna Beasley accompanied by musician Scott Neubert thrilled the audience today in Java City with their modern country sound.

Monday, February 16th, 2009
Classically trained musician and singer/songwriter Lee Quick performed her unique and often funny music for the crowd at Java City on Wednesday the 11th. Lee hails originally from New Orleans but after Katrina now resides in Nashville and is pursuing a Masters in Music Education.

Lately at the Java City patio several musicians and groups have performed: The Celtic folk duet “Shadowdancer” on September 3, the Nashville alt-country recording artist Daniel Glen Timms on September 8, and WKU student band “Birdswim” on September 10.

WKU Libraries welcomed Spoken Word, a Rap group from Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the Java City-Helm Library on campus March 26, 2008.

Monday, March 17th, 2008
On March 17, 2008 at Java City in Helm Library, Shadowdancer entertained the faculty and students with songs from their latest CD “Tradition with a Twist.” The band consists one of our own, Jack Montgomery and WKU faculty members.
