Alt-country, folk duo from Texas via Nashville returns to WKU on October 6 at noon. Come out to Java City in Helm for a little afternoon music. It’s beautiful Fall day for some music before heading off on Fall Break. Thanks to Independence Bank for their sponsorship.

A happy crowd enjoyed the sounds of BG band Liberation last Tuesday on the patio outside Java City. Though billed as Bowling Green’s premier nightclub rock band, they demonstrated they were alot more than that. Thanks to Independence Bank for their continued sponsorship.

The Java City Noon concert series returned on Wednesday with a performance by Technology vs. Horse. Bowling Green’s premier alt-rock group performed to an appreciative crowd outside the newly renovated Java City cafe in Helm Library. The concerts have become a tradition here on campus over the last few years as a great way to take a break while listening to live music. Don’t miss next week’s concert featuring singer/songwriter Alec Vincent.

Under beautiful skies in Bowling Green on Wednesday, New York folk band Benyaro entertained a large crowd at Java City with their hard driving sound. What a Spring we’ve had, great music and beautiful days. All good things must come to an end though, the Spring 2010 concert series is no exception. Join us next week for the final concert of the semester featuring Nashville rock & rollers Stickman. More about their music can be found at www.stickmanmusic.com.

This Saturday, December 5 is Christmas in Kentucky at the Kentucky Library & Museum from 11 am to 2 pm. This free family event will be full of fun with ornament making, open hearth cooking, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and Big Red. There will be several children’s activities including a cake walk, a scavenger hunt, and the magician who makes balloon animals. Join us after the Christmas parade to kick off the season.

Looking for a place to entertain the relatives over the Thanksgiving holiday? Come to the Kentucky Library & Museum. Featuring more than 500 pieces of furniture, paintings and other decorative art items that date from as early as 1300 B.C. to the mid-twentieth century, the Snell-Franklin Decorative Arts Gallery at the Kentucky Library & Museum offers an alternative to the usual post-Thanksgiving activities. The Civil War enthusiasts will enjoy viewing, “A Star in Each Flag: Conflict in Kentucky.” Nostalgia buffs may want to wander down memory lane in “Recommended by Duncan Hines,” an exhibit about Bowling Green’s most famous food icon.
The Kentucky Museum exhibits are open every day this week but Thanksgiving Day. The Harrison-Baird Reading Room is closed throughout the entire holiday period.
