Beau Bristow performing in Java CityNashville Recording Artist Beau Bristow performed once again at the Libaries’ Java City on April 19th. Beau last appeared at Western with Sarah Peacock. One reviewer from Alabama recently remarked about Beau’s ” extraordinary ability to articulate human emotions, dreams, and desires in his songwriting and his personal presentation of those songs. Beau connects to each listener on a different level.”

Faraway Places Lecture on Portugal This Thursday

Dr. Shawn Parkhurst from the Dept. of Anthropology, University of Louisville gave a lecture on Portual at Barnes & Noble Booksellers on Campbell Lane, Bowling Green on Thursday evening, April 13. A native of Oregon, Shawn received his PhD in Cultural Studies from UC Berkeley in 2000. Photos of the event are available.

Kentucky Live! Southern Culture at Its Best

Nancy Baird: WKU 100

Nancy Baird, Kentucky History Specialist, for University Libraries presented “Western Kentucky University, The First 100 Years, 1906-2006” the centennial history of WKU at this month’s Kentucky Live! program at Barnes & Noble on April 6. Baird, Carol Crowe Carraco (Distinguished University Professor of History) and Sue Lynne Stone McDaniel (University Archivist) are co-authors of this beautiful illustrated history.

Community Lecture on Holocaust Featured Survivor and Liberator

A community lecture on the Holocaust was given at Barnes & Noble on March 21. The speakers were Ann Klein of Louisville, a survivor of several Holocaust concentration camps, and Robert Wheeler of Scottsville, the seargent of the unit that liberated Buchenwald.
