Nashville Recording Artist Beau Bristow Performed at Java City Again
Nashville Recording Artist Beau Bristow performed once again at the Libaries’ Java City on April 19th. Beau last appeared at Western with Sarah Peacock. One reviewer from Alabama recently remarked about Beau’s ” extraordinary ability to articulate human emotions, dreams, and desires in his songwriting and his personal presentation of those songs. Beau connects to each listener on a different level.”

Faraway Places Lecture on Portugal This Thursday
Dr. Shawn Parkhurst from the Dept. of Anthropology, University of Louisville gave a lecture on Portual at Barnes & Noble Booksellers on Campbell Lane, Bowling Green on Thursday evening, April 13. A native of Oregon, Shawn received his PhD in Cultural Studies from UC Berkeley in 2000. Photos of the event are available.

Java City Concerts This Tuesday and Wednesday
WKU Libraries presented the alternative rock band “Chest Rockwell” on April 11th and WKU freshman and music major Brent Wilkinson on April 12th from noon to 1:00pm on the patio of Java City.

Kentucky Live! Southern Culture at Its Best
Nancy Baird, Kentucky History Specialist, for University Libraries presented “Western Kentucky University, The First 100 Years, 1906-2006” the centennial history of WKU at this month’s Kentucky Live! program at Barnes & Noble on April 6. Baird, Carol Crowe Carraco (Distinguished University Professor of History) and Sue Lynne Stone McDaniel (University Archivist) are co-authors of this beautiful illustrated history.

Spring Break Day Camps at Kentucky Library and Museum
Spring break day camp held at the Kentucky Museum got rave reviews from the campers, who enjoyed many art activities from painting on a paper-mache rock ledge to creating 3D collage. Check out snapshots of the camp event!
