pic01When Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese was served to guests at this year’s Masters in Augusta it was yet another accolade for this Barren County cheese producer, whose cheeses have been served at the Kentucky Derby during Queen Elizabeth II’s visit in 2007 and at the Rolex Three Day Event. Started by his parents who were searching for a way to make dairy farming sustainable in the 1990s , today Kenny and Beverly Mattingly’s dairy farm at Austin, Kentucky produces more than 70,000 pounds of cheese annually in 26 varieties including cheddar, Colby, jack, Asiago, Swiss, Havarti, and even a Barren County bleu. Coming soon will be a sweet sorghum swiss. Now served in some of state’s finest restaurants and locally available in many specialty stores the cheese is even sold at Bowling Green’s weekly farmer’s markets. The Mattingly’s son Jared is a WKU student. This Kentucky company has been the subject of numerous tv programs and articles on progressive agriculture. Please join us to hear their story and even sample some of their legendary cheeses. Thursday, November 11 @ 7:00 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 1680 Campbell Lane.
