He’ll be talking about the history of the “Louisville Slugger” the iconic bat used by a majority of today’s major league baseball players as well as players in countless baseball, fastball and softball leagues around the country. Legend has it that the first bat was crafted by 17 year-old “Bud” Hillerich in his father’s woodworking shop in Louisville, Kentucky for Pete Browning who played for Louisville’s major league team, the Louisville Eclipse. The name “Louisville Slugger” was registered with the U.S. Patent office in 1894. Over the past 120 years the company has sold more than 100 million bats. Today the company sells everything from fielding and batting gloves to collectible bats.

This bat belonging to the late Babe Ruth. It was notched (like an old gunslinger’s pistol). 21 of the 60 home runs that he made in 1927 were hit with this bat. It’s worth $1.5 Million!
