More than 600 area school children took part in field trips at the Kentucky Library and Museum over the past few weeks. During their visit they engaged in a variety of hands-on activities in conjunction with the exhibits.

The week of October 9-13, participants in the fall art camp at the Kentucky Library and Museum took part in a variety of art activities including block printing, weaving, dyeing, marbleizing, and fabric collage. They also toured the Kentucky Museum exhibits and found time to enjoy the fall weather in the Museum courtyard.

On Saturday, September 30th, a Quilt Show & Tell at the Kentucky Library and Museum offered area residents an opportunity to display their quilts, share stories with other participants and learn several quiltmaking techniques.

In celebration of Homecoming 2006 University Libraries invites you to see the Centennial Traveling Exhibit in DUC, have your centennial book signed from 10-12 in DUC and experience a taste of Kentucky, courtesy of Southern Delight Gourmet Foods, from 12-4 at the Kentucky Museum Store.
As always, Centennial merchandise and Kentucky crafted items will be available…all on October 28.

On October 14th, discover new traditions at the Kentucky Museum by joining nationally recognized quilt and fiber artist Juanita Yeager for a round flower workshop. Learn how to use new techniques to create contemporary appliqué flower blocks. The workshop will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Rosemary Meszaros, Coordinator of WKU Libraries’ Government Document and Law unit, has been selected by the Kentucky Library Association (KLA) the Academic Librarian of the Year! At a luncheon in Louisville on September 28, 2006, several WKU Librarians who attended KLA’s annual conference were there to congratulate Rosemary and share the joy with her.
