Bowling Green, Ky. – Rose Davis, coordinator for Bibliographic Access and Training for the Department of Librarydavis Technical Services at Western Kentucky University, received the Outstanding Academic Librarian Award from the Kentucky Library Association last week at the annual KLA conference.
Davis has held several leadership positions regionally as well as statewide including chair positions for Kentucky Library Association-Academic Section, Ohio Valley Users Group of Technical Services Librarians, Kentucky Southeastern Library Network Users Group, and Kentucky Virtual Library and Voyager Users Groups.
“Rose Davis exemplifies faculty dedication through her leadership which has spanned decades,†said Connie Foster, head of WKU’s Library Technical Services. “Her willingness to serve and her leadership in key state positions highlights her contributions to Kentucky academic librarians and reflects well on WKU’s reach beyond the community.â€
Davis is responsible for cataloging and training within the University Library System. She follows a legacy of WKU librarians who have received this honor: Cynthia Etkin (1995), Connie Foster (1999), Elaine Moore (2001) and Rosemary Meszaros (2006).

The poster exhibit, sponsored by University Libraries and the WKU Political Engagement Project celebrates those activists and ideas that have made changes in the areas of civil rights and world peace. Dr. Saundra Ardrey was interviewed by Amy Bingham DeCesare, Coordinator/Broadcast Services, WKU Office of Media Relations on the poster exhibit and the events surrounding “Debate Watch.” for WBKO’s “View From The Hill” program which will air on Thursday October 9th.
Seventeen year old, Nashville singing sensation, Avery Hovey accompanied by Nashville veteran musician and producer Jerry Webb performed country and rock standards as well as their original songs in Java City. Ms Hovey was warmly received by the crowd in Java City and will certainly be asked back for a repeat performance.
